Rowan Alexander insists that he will be back in charge of Gretna after watching the last two months of their promotion to the SPL from the sidelines. Alexander was given time off for a mystery illness in March.
But, after watching them clinch the title with a 3-2 win over Ross County, he told BBC Sport: "It means the world to us all to go up.
"I have always had belief in my own ability. I like to think I will be at the helm next season."
Alexander heaped praise on the players after they picked themselves up on the final day to pip St Johnstone despite squandering the 12-point lead they built up at one stage.
And he stressed that he had been preparing for the assault to come on Scotland's top flight.
"Unfortunately, for me, I've been away watching players for the SPL," said Alexander, who had left team affairs to assistant David Irons.
"Now I can sit down and start siphoning through who we want.
"That's kept me on top of things.
"I'm delighted for the boys.
"Things have been difficult at times this season, but they hung on in there.
"They have shown their character and deserve the plaudits."
