Gretna midfielder Steve Tosh is not expecting a dramatic Uefa Cup fightback from 5-1 down against Derry City.
But the 33-year-old wants the Scottish First Division leaders to salvage some pride in the return leg.
He said: "We have to show Derry and our own supporters that we are better than we were in the first game.
"I don't think it's mission impossible; it is worse than that. Tom Cruise was offered a game for us, but even he turned it down."
Former Aberdeen and Falkirk man Tosh insists Gretna are desperate to win to prove they were rightful entrants to the Uefa Cup as Scottish Cup runners-up.
"The first 20 minutes will be vital and it is important we get off to a good start," he added. "You never know what might happen.
"People said bad things about us last year - asking why should we be in Europe for finishing second in the cup.
"We got to the Scottish Cup final and, thankfully, Hearts did well in the Premier League to get us into the Uefa Cup.
"I heard people saying Hibs should be in our place because they finished fourth in the SPL.
"But Hearts beat Hibs 4-0 in the semi-final and we took Hearts to extra-time and a penalty shoot-out.
"I do not know why these small-minded people had a go at us, but we gave them ammunition by losing 5-1 to Derry City.
"It was a bad night and we have to rectify that by salvaging some dignity, pride and who knows what could happen."
