| Grays Athletic have been dealt a huge blow to their pre-season preparations after captain Stuart Thurgood broke his leg, reports BBC Essex. Thurgood, 24, sustained the injury in the 3-2 pre-season friendly defeat at home to Leyton Orient on Wednesday. The midfielder has broken his fibula and has had an operation to pin the injury on Thursday morning. Thurgood, who joined the club at the start of the 2003 campaign, led to the club to the FA Trophy last season.
