Stimson took his side back into League One with promotion last season
Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has warned he will drop some of his established players after they conceded four goals for the second away game in succession.
He described his side's defending in the 4-1 defeat to Southampton at St Mary's as "embarrassing".
"A few of my boys have been told they've got to get back into their game otherwise they'll be on the sidelines watching," Stimson told BBC Radio Kent.
"I feel for the fans because they turned out in their numbers."
He added: "Possibly like me, they were sitting there embarrassed.
"With the third goal, how two of their players broke and two of mine didn't recover I don't know.
"But I'll look on the video and show those players that they didn't do it, because the young kid [Jack Payne] did and he's only 17.
"He had the desire to get back and try to help his team-mates out, but there were senior players who didn't."
