Stimson's side go into the Christmas period two points off the top 3
Gillingham defender John Nutter says they need a minimum of four points from their two Christmas games.
They visit Dagenham and Redbridge on Boxing Day and then face Wycombe, managed by ex-Gills boss Peter Taylor, on Sunday.
Nutter, 26, told BBC Radio Kent they have to avoid defeat: "Hopefully six points but a minimum of four and we are right in the mix."
Mark Stimson's side are 8th but only two points off the automatic places.
With competition fierce in League Two Nutter knows Gillingham have to take every opportunity.
"It's so tight at the moment up there," he said.
"We are unbeaten in six. It was important we didn't let Brentford win (in their last game) as they're above us so we didn't want them getting further ahead."
Meanwhile, all tickets for the FA cup tie with Aston Villa on Sunday 4 January have been sold.
The game will be watched in front of a capacity crowd of between 11,000 and 11,200.
There's commentary of Dagenham and Redbridge v Gillingham on Friday 26 December on BBC Radio Kent.
