Gillingham's summer signing Mark McCammon is recovering well from his hamstring injury and could play in Saturday's friendly with Birmingham.
The 29-year-old striker, who joined from Doncaster on 3 July, has yet to feature for the Gills this summer.
But Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has been impressed with his progress.
Stimson said: "I went up the training ground and saw Mark running and I said you're fit. But he said he was only up to 70-75%. He was going well."
"With hamstrings you have to be careful, it's this last 15% that he wants out of himself," the Gills boss added.
"It's that fine line of saying 'do we push him for Saturday or do we wait a couple more days' but he's going in the right direction."
Meanwhile, the Gills have taken Bolton midfielder Michael Burns on a week's trial and he will also be in the squad to face Birmingham.
