Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey has extended his contract at Craven Cottage until the end of the 2012-13 season.
The United States international, 26, joined from New England Revolution in January 2007 and would have been out of contract at the end of next season.
He has scored 14 goals in 81 Premier League games and was Fulham's joint top scorer last season with seven goals.
During the campaign he started 28 Premier League games and came on as a substitute in another seven.
Dempsey has won 57 caps since making his international debut for the United States in 2004 and scored against Ghana in the 2006 World Cup.
This summer, he was a key player for the US in their Confederations Cup campaign in South Africa, scoring against Egypt, Spain and Brazil.
