Hangeland happy to stay at Fulham

Fulham defender Brede Hangeland says there is "nothing to suggest" he will not be a Fulham player next season.

The Norwegian international has been offered a new contract at Craven Cottage but has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Asked if he would be playing in Europe with Fulham next season, the 28-year-old told BBC London 94.9: "There's nothing to suggest otherwise.

"One thing about the English media is that they have very good imaginations."

"It's a time for speculation now and I won't lose any sleep over that," he added.

The Whites secured their place in next season's newly formed Uefa Europa League by finishing in seventh spot and Hangeland admits that his agent is currently going over the new deal that has been put on the table to keep him at Fulham.

The centre-half is delighted with the progress Roy Hodgson's side have made, having originally joined the club in the midst of a relegation battle in January 2008.

He said: "The season has been very different from last year. It's a bit hard to understand how far we've come in 12 months so it's been great to be part of that.

"If there's anything to characterise this side it's that it's a team of team players and not big individual players so I think we've come very far playing as a team and everyone has done their part."
