Fulham boss Roy Hodgson says he will not offer Cottagers midfielder Jimmy Bullard a new contract despite his recent call-up to the England squad.

Bullard, 29, has two years left on his current deal and Hodgson said: "He doesn't need a new contract.

"If he was in the final year of his contract and was refusing to sign one, then alarm bells would start ringing.

"If other teams come knocking maybe another situation will arise, but we will deal with that when it comes."

West Ham, Blackburn and Everton are among the clubs reported to be interested in Bullard, who joined Fulham from Wigan for �2.5m in May 2006.

But he returned in January 2008 and helped Fulham stay in the Premier League, before more impressive displays at the start of this campaign earned him a call-up for England's World Cup qualifiers in September.

And Hodgson believes Bullard should concentrate on maintaining that form rather than worrying about his future.

"He knows the most important thing for him is to play well enough to keep his place in the England set-up and to play well enough to help his beloved Fulham climb up the table," Hodgson explained.

"He knows what he's got to do, he's focused on it, we're happy that we've got him and we'll have him for at least the next two years. We'll worry about the new contract situation when the time comes."
