Boa Morte - a summer target for Spurs - is now out of action |
Fulham captain Luis Boa Morte faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after injuring himself against Tottenham. The 29-year-old has a suspected fractured cheekbone following a clash with team-mate Heidur Helguson as he cleared Pascal Chimbonda's header.
Fulham boss Chris Coleman said: "There is a dent in his cheek so it could be three weeks or it could be six. He may have to play with a mask."
Coleman had earlier confirmed Tottenham had tried to buy Boa Morte this summer.
Fulham rejected the bid for the Portuguese striker because they were 5m short in their valuation.
Spurs signed another Fulham player Steed Malbranque but also wanted Boa Morte.
"He came back from the World Cup and there was all the hoo-hah about whether he was leaving us," said Coleman.
"He is always being linked with a move away from this club but he was about 5m away from joining Spurs."
