Al Fayed denies Fulham sale talk
Fulham chairman and owner Mohamed Al Fayed
Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed does not want to sell the club
Fulham chairman and owner Mohamed Al Fayed has denied reports that he is interested in selling the club to businessman John Wallis.

Wallis, a Fulham fan, says his company Casino Fortune were looking into sponsoring Fulham, not buying them.

"I have invested well over 130m in Fulham, with the long-term aim of seeing the club established amongst the world's very best," said Al Fayed.

"I'm as committed to that dream as I've always been. The club is not for sale."

Cottagers boss Chris Coleman said on Monday that he was convinced Al Fayed planned to remain in charge of the club.

"I spoke to the chairman and he was as enthusiastic as he ever was," he said.

"The guy John Wallis was there on Saturday and I understand there have been talks about marketing but there is no truth in the story he wants to buy Fulham.

"The chairman was delighted by the result on Saturday - a 2-0 win over Liverpool - and I know he holds Fulham Football Club dear to his heart.

"He has done well in the last eight or nine years to get us to where we are and I cannot see him letting someone else come in and take it forward because we can do that.

"I am totally convinced it won't happen. I can only go on what I'm told and my gut feeling but I would be amazed if the chairman was to sell the club, certainly now anyway."

Meanwhile, Coleman has told Zat Knight he will have to leave Craven Cottage if he steps out of line again.

Knight, 25, lost his place in the team early in the season as a punishment for breaking a curfew before a big match.

"The player has been told he is now forgiven - but a repeat would see him heading for the exit," stated Coleman.

"He has all the tools in his locker and it is up to him to fulfil his potential. Obviously, there is another road he can take and hopefully he won't do that."

Since his indiscretion he has not even been used on the bench but has been allowed back into the fold for Tuesday's Carling Cup third-round clash with West Brom at Craven Cottage.
