Falkirk determined to keep Barr

Darren Barr
Falkirk captain Darren Barr is entering the final year of his contract

Falkirk manager Eddie May has urged club captain Darren Barr to remain at the club for at least another year.

Barr, 24, has 12 months left on his current contract and has been linked with Hearts and Hibs.

"The only way Darren will move is if it's an exceptional offer," May told BBC Scotland.

"We don't want to let Darren go for a couple of hundred thousand pounds. It wouldn't be worth it for Darren and it wouldn't be good for the club."

Hearts and Edinburgh rivals Hibs have both been linked with Barr, but May wants the defender to remain at the club until his contract expires.

"I think it's more beneficial for Darren to play, and if a big team comes in, then he'll have more options at the end of the season - because he's a free agent," he said.

"I think that's important for Darren and his development; coming through the youth system that he gets a fantastic pay-day."
