Falkirk have signed Austria striker Roman Wallner and are close to securing the signature of Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul from Newcastle. Wallner, 25, has been capped 23 times for Austria and has signed a one-year contract with the SPL club.
The 25-year-old has also played for Sturm Graz, Rapid Vienna, Hannover and
Admira Wacker, and scored five goals for his country.
Krul, 19, has agreed a six-month loan contract, subject to a medical.
Falkirk manager John Hughes told said: "I am absolutely delighted securing a player of Roman's class, ability and stature."
Speaking about Krul, Hughes said: "We are delighted to bring a goalkeeper of Tim's quality to the club.
"He is one I have watched and been impressed by on a number of occasions and I
think that it shows how far the club has come when we are able to attract the Dutch Under-21 goalkeeper to the club when there was genuine English Championship interest in the player."
Krul will provide competition for Robert Olejnik, who arrived from Aston Villa earlier in the summer.
Hughes had been talking up his chances of landing Zbigniew Malkowski from Hibernian but has now switched his attention to the former Den Haag player.
