Darren Quigley is seeking a move from UCD |
University College Dublin goalkeeper Darren Quigley is expected to arrive at Falkirk Stadium this weekend as he attempts to win a transfer to Scotland. And Falkirk head coach John Hughes is also believed to be interested in Cork City midfielder Joe Gamble.
The 20-year-old Quigley will begin a trial with Scottish Premier League outfit Falkirk after spells with West Ham, Fulham and Stockport.
Hughes is seeking someone to challenge Jeroen Lambers and Scott Higgins.
Quigley, who has played for Ireland B and the Under-21 side, said: "I am out of contract, so I've been across in England for a couple of trials.
"I am now at the stage where I am looking to get into full-time football and I know coming to Falkirk is a big chance for me.
"There certainly won't be any chance of getting homesick because Paddy Gregg also stays round the corner and I know Stephen O'Donnell well.
"I have come up through the Irish youth ranks with Stephen and Paddy and I also know Anthony Stokes from the Irish under-21s.
"They have all spoken very highly of Falkirk and told me I should come as it is a great club and I would love it."
The 24-year-old Gamble was previously with Reading and Barnet and was called into the Republic of Ireland senior squad for the friendly against Chile in May 2006.
