Anthony Stokes shined in the SPL during October |
Anthony Stokes has been named as the SPL's young player of the month for October and is considering extending his stay at Falkirk beyond January. The 18-year-old striker, on loan from Arsenal, scored six goals last month, including a hat-trick against Dundee United at the weekend.
Stokes said: "The gaffer here has given me my chance and, if he asked me to extend my time here, I probably would.
"I have not spoken to him about it, but we'll see what happens in a few weeks."
The Bairns have first option on Stokes' services and, while the Irishman is eager to break into the Arsenal first team, he insists staying in Scotland is a possibility.
"It has been brilliant here and I want to make a name for myself," he said.

"I know it sounds a bit selfish, but the more goals I score here, the better chance I have of getting a move if I do not make it at Arsenal.
"But the aim is to go back to London, maybe at the end of the year, and try to get into the first-team squad.
"Originally, when I spoke to Arsene Wenger during pre-season, he said it would be good for me to go out on loan for six months or a year.
"And, although I only signed this contract until January, I do not see a problem in my extending it or going elsewhere.
"Unless Arsene is going to bring me back down there and put me into the first team, I am happy to stay and keep playing games.
"I don't think Arsenal would have a problem with me staying here for a while yet.
"So I think the decision will be pretty much up to myself once I see what options I have."
Falkirk head coach Hughes was hopeful of retaining Stokes' services.
"I would love him to stay here if he shows the same goalscoring form in the coming weeks," he said.
"It would be good to keep him after January and, who knows, maybe next season as well."
