Paul Tisdale has led Exeter City to two promotions since becoming manager
Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale says that his side are now promotion contenders after picking up their fifth win of the season at home to Carlisle United.
"I see no reason why we can't," Tisdale told BBC Devon, "so why not?
"You can probably talk about 15 to 20 teams that think they've a chance of the play-offs and we're one of them."
Two goals from Richard Logan helped the Grecians to a 2-1 win over Carlisle that puts them seventh in League One - just a place shy of the play-off zone.
"I wouldn't say we're going to be promoted," added Tisdale. "But I'm certainly not going to talk as if we're not capable of it.
"We're a good side and we're getting better. "The year we got promoted from League Two, I never once said we're going to get promoted or that we should. You just keep going week by week and that's what we're doing this year."
Central to Exeter's rise up the League One standings has been their impressive form at St James Park, where they remain unbeaten in six games this term.
"We must continue with that and expect to stretch that run even further," said Tisdale. "But I'm certainly not going to start talking about a fortress because you then have the opportunity to come crashing down.
"We're expecting to win every game.
"That's the way I've approached every single home game and I think we're at the point now where we're expecting to win away games."
Tisdale also paid tribute to in-form striker Richard Logan, whose two goals took his tally for the season to six.
"I'm pleased that Richard played so well," said Tisdale. "He's athletic and full of fitness and we can see what a fit Richard Logan looks like at the moment. He took those goals really well. He really is on top form."
