Exeter City have said they will not be offering trialist goalkeeper Scott Fox a contract.
The 21-year-old Scottish goalkeeper's ties to former club Celtic are said to be the reason that no deal took place.
Grecians director of football Steve Perryman said: "Because Celtic had him [Fox] as a young player they still retain his rights.
"On this occasion we aren't in a position to offer the host club the deal they desire."
Perryman continued: "He's a nice lad, a good player and we like him.
"But we didn't like him enough yet to offer him the length of contract needed to satisfy this rights situation with Celtic as well as the player himself."
