Mackie attracts League interest
Jamie Mackie
Mackie has been attracting interest from a number of league clubs
Cheltenham Town are the latest club to take an interest in Exeter City's top scorer Jamie Mackie.

But Town chairman Paul Baker has told BBC Radio Devon that he will not pay over the odds for the 22-year-old.

"We don't want to be paying inflated prices for players just because clubs are demanding it," he said.

Mackie, who has scored in 11 of his last 12 Blue Square Premier games has been attracting the attention of a number of Football League clubs.

"(They have had) a number of bids from a number of Football League clubs, including Plymouth.

Mackie has scored a total of 13 goals this season
Cheltenham have scored fewer goals than any other League One side (18)

"Our knowledge is that all the bids have been turned down so we're just sitting tight at the moment," Baker added.

Mackie, who has been named December's Blue Square Premier player of the month, recently signed a deal to stay with Exeter City until the end of next season, despite the interest in him.

Meanwhile Exeter City have given goalkeeper Paul Jones a new contract, believed to keep him at St James Park for another three years.
