Marouane Fellaini to miss rest of season for Everton
Fellaini was taken off injured in the game against Sunderland on Saturday
Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury he suffered in Saturday's 2-0 win over Sunderland.
The Belgium international, 23, had to go off just before half-time following a challenge with Stephane Sessegnon.
"Marouane is out for the season. He'll have an operation on Monday," said Everton boss David Moyes after Tuesday's FA Cup 1-0 defeat by Reading.
Midfielder Tim Cahill is also out for three weeks with a foot injury.
That injury ruled Cahill out of Tuesday's FA Cup fifth-round tie with Reading - a game the Championship side won.
The Royals stunned their Premier League rivals by earning victory at Goodison Park with a first-half strike from Matt Mills.
The defeat heaps further misery on Everton, who had beaten Chelsea in the previous round on penalties and were favourites to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Reading will now face either Manchester City or Aston Villa, who meet on Wednesday.
Last season, Fellaini was out of action for about six months after he underwent ankle surgery in February 2010.
