Everton's Jack Rodwell praises Blues boss David Moyes
Rodwell has been at Everton since the age of seven
Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell believes boss David Moyes is the right man to guide him through his career.
The 19-year-old, who has signed a new five-year contract at the club, says Moyes's record of developing players is there for all to see.
"He's been brilliant with me, and not just me but with the other youngsters as well," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"His track record has been brilliant and it's been no different with me and I'm very happy to work under him."
Rodwell added: "It has shown with the players he's blooded in, there is the likes of me, Victor Anichebe, James Vaughan and Dan Gosling, who he brought in from Plymouth.
"The proof is in the pudding really and I think it's a great club to be at."
Much has been made of Rodwell's rise to prominence since he made his Blues debut against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar at the age of 16 in December 2007.
Despite starting out as a central defender, Rodwell has played the majority of his professional career as a midfielder and he admits he is comfortable in his new position.
"I've always played defence because I've always been the biggest at the younger ages, so it was only natural for me to play there," Rodwell continued.
"But the more I've progressed as a player I feel like I'm capable in midfield.
"I've played a lot now in midfield so I'm getting more used to it, so I think there will be better things to come.
"As for the future, I don't know where my position will be but at the moment I'm happy playing in midfield."
As a midfielder, the England Under-21 international has been likened to Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, but the youngster insists he does not want to be pigeon-holed.
"I wouldn't want to brand myself as being like any other player, I think I'm my own player," said Rodwell.
"I would like to build my own game naturally now in the next few years. I've got my own style, but to be linked with players like Steven Gerrard is flattering, obviously."
