Neill says fortunes will change

Everton defender Lucas Neill believes his side's fortunes will change in the coming weeks after a 3-2 defeat to Bolton on Sunday.

Neill, 31, says the players will work hard to eradicate the mistakes which are costing the side points at present.

"It's just about getting on a run," Neill told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Mistakes are proving very costly. It's only a matter of time before hard work turns all that around and the losses become draws and draws become wins."

The Australian captain moved to Goodison Park on a free transfer in September after leaving West Ham when his contract expired at the end of last season.

The game against Bolton was his full Premier League debut for the club and he was the provider for both Louis Saha's goal in the first half and Marouane Felliani's equaliser in the second period.

Neil says despite a bright individual display himself, he was deflated after his side were defeated.

"We got off to a start that wasn't to plan," Neill continued.

"But we showed good character to get back in the game and I suppose the feeling was that we were going to go on and win it.

"But a little bit of naivety and a couple of simple errors and you get punished at this level. That's what happened today and it's something we'll analyse and look at and make sure doesn't happen again."
