Vaughan has only made 12 appearances for Everton this season
Everton striker James Vaughan has had surgery on his right knee, four weeks after twisting the joint in training.
He had been due to be operated on by American knee expert Richard Steadman in Colorado earlier this month.
But Steadman cancelled after breaking his arm while skiing and Vaughan, 20, had surgery to repair lateral cartilage damage on Wednesday in England instead.
"Hopefully he should be fit before the end of the season," said Everton assistant manager Steve Round.
"Everything went very well - we now wish him a speedy recovery, but we will have to keep a tab on that and see how it goes over the next few weeks."
Vaughan, who had an operation on his left knee earlier this year, has had an injury-plagued career with Everton.
He missed the start of last season after dislocating a shoulder in a pre-season friendly at Preston and severed an artery in his foot at Bolton during the previous campaign.
He is one of four Everton strikers currently out of action, although Victor Anichebe (back) and Louis Saha (hamstring) could both figure in Monday's game against Chelsea.
