Jacobsen will wear the number 15 jersey this season
Everton have completed their first signing of the summer after agreeing a one-year deal for Denmark full-back Lars Christian Jacobsen.
The 28-year-old joined the club on a free transfer after successfully passing a medical on Monday.
Jacobsen spent last season with German side FC Nuremberg.
He will be eligible for selection for Everton's match against Portsmouth on Saturday, providing his registration details are sent by the German FA.
Jacobsen's arrival will provide a welcome boost for manager David Moyes, who has been frustrated in his attempts to add to his injury-hit squad this summer.
Moyes missed out on signing Juventus midfielder Tiago on loan and Jacobsen will provide cover for the injured Tony Hibbert, who is expected to be out for at least six weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
Jacobsen began his career at Danish side Odense in 1996 before moving to the Bundesliga for the first time with SV Hamburg.
Before his stint with Nuremberg, Jacobsen returned to his home country for a three-year spell with FC Copenhagen, helping them to three Danish Superliga titles.
He is set to wear the number 15 jersey for the Toffees this season.
