Cahill has sparked new concerns about his foot injury |
Everton midfielder Tim Cahill will miss the start of the season after suffering a recurrence of a foot injury. Cahill broke a metatarsal in March but Everton have denied reports he faces a three-month lay-off after limping out of Tuesday's game with Werder Bremen.
Head physio Mick Rathbone told the club website: "That is premature and wide of the mark.
"He has suffered damage to the same area of the foot but it is miniscule in comparison to the previous injury."

The injury in March, picked up in the game aagainst Sheffield United, sidelined the 27-year-old for three months and he barely figured in Australia's recent Asia Cup challenge.
After returning from the tournament, Cahill returned to Everton for further treatment and training but then lasted just 61 minutes in the match against Bremen before coming off with the latest knock.
