Schalke pull out of Baros deal Everton bid for Johnson dismissed

Johnson, 24, has signed a new five-year deal with Palace after they turned down Everton's �6m offer.

"We are looking at a number of options and we are currently reviewing them all," chief executive Keith Wyness later confirmed to the Liverpool Echo.

And he admitted that Baros, 23, is "one of the names on the list".

German side Schalke 04 were interested in Baros but abandoned their interest because of his price tag.

Baros has not played in any of Liverpool's Champions League qualifiers so far this season in order not to devalue his worth.

While Reds boss Rafael Benitez insists Baros has a future at Anfield, it seems he will let the Czech international leave for the right price.

Everton start their Champions League campaign with a third-round qualifier against Villarreal on 9 August at Goodison Park and will need to sign Baros by Thursday if they want him to play in that game.

Aston Villa and Monaco are also believed to be keen on signing Baros, who is competing with Fernando Morientes, Djibril Cisse, Peter Crouch and Anthony Le Tallec for a striking berth at Liverpool.
