 | MOYES' VIEW |
Everton manager David Moyes was in buoyant mood as they closed in on a Champions League place with a 1-0 win against Manchester United. Duncan Ferguson headed the winner and Moyes said: "It was an incredible atmosphere inside this ground tonight. One of the best since I've been here.
"The fans can see what our players are giving and any victory against a great club like United is fantastic.
"We've got three more points and the chance of a Champions League place."
Manchester United duo Gary Neville and Paul Scholes were sent off in a fiery encounter, but Moyes said: "It was a proper game, with everyone into it and a fantastic atmosphere - our supporters were great again."
Moyes also paid tribute to veteran striker Ferguson, who scored the winner, as he did when Everton last beat United in the league 10 years ago.
He said: "Duncan's got a track record against them, which played a part in his selection, and he let nobody down."
Moyes was involved in angry exchanges with United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson after Scholes was sent off, and the Everton boss said: "It was a bit of banter - Scottish patter.
"That's what happens. Football is a great game and emotions run high."
