Everton defender Alessandro Pistone will have a final operation on his knee in the United States on Wednesday. The 30-year-old Italian left-back injured his cruciate knee ligament in the away win at Bolton in August.
"I am absolutely delighted that the time has arrived for this operation because I can't wait any more," Pistone told the Toffees' official website.
"The operation is the moment I've been waiting for a long time. We've decided I'm going to stay there for a while."
Pistone is not expected to return to competitive action before March next year.
The former Newcastle player has made 117 appearances for Everton since moving to Goodison Park for 3m in July 2000.
