 | MOYES'S VIEW |
Everton manager David Moyes claimed referee Alan Wiley's failure to send off Edu played a major part in their Carling Cup defeat at Highbury. Moyes was convinced Edu should have been sent off for a foul on James McFadden when Everton were leading 1-0.
Arsenal went on to win 3-1 and Moyes said: "If Edu is then sent off, and it's incredible that he isn't, it would have made a big difference.
"Edu went on to be very influential for Arsenal in the game."
Moyes was also disappointed with the manner in which his team conceded the second goal at Highbury.
Quincy Owusu-Abeyie left Everton defenders trailing in his wake before linking with Robin van Persie, who set up Arturo Lupoli.
Moyes said: "People probably thought it was a great goal, but the boy charges past three or four of our players and knocks them over like skittles. That was pretty average from our point of view.
"But all credit to Arsenal, they've got some very good young players coming through.
"They are very fortunate to have so many players to choose from whereas all we've got are the ones we had out in this game."
Everton have lost twice in four days, but Moyes is confident they can bounce back at Birmingham on Saturday.
He said: "Our lads have been tremendous this season and this will be treated like a blip and we'll get on with our business again on Saturday.
"We've had a great start and we probably haven't got enough players to be in too many competitions.
"We'd rather be in but we're not and it's over and done with."
