Moyes has mixed emotions

MOYES' VIEW
David Moyes
Everton manager David Moyes was delighted with the win at Manchester City but disappointed at goalscorer Tim Cahill's red card for over-celebrating.

He said: "We left here in shame after losing 5-1 last season. The players have been different class and can leave with their heads held high.

"I'm pleased Tim scored, but I don't know what the rules are when you score.

"He just pulled his shirt over his head. I'm disappointed that we lost a player for a such a soft incident."

Moyes added: "The players were terrific. They were resilient, determined and defended incredibly well. I felt we thoroughly deserved to win.

"We were shambolic here last season, but the players can leave with the heads held high and their chests puffed out.

"The players deserve all the credit. It's a good start, and now we want a good middle and a good end."
