Danny happy to leave
Danny Cadamarteri
Cadamarteri: Has learned a "valuable lesson"
Danny Cadamarteri says he is looking forward to rebuilding his career after being released by Everton.

The 21-year-old striker has been allowed to leave Goodison Park after being found guilty of punching a woman in the face last October.

The former England Under-21 international said he would have left the club in any case.

I am now at a stage in my career where I need first-team football on a regular basis

"My contract with Everton ends this season and for some time now it was mutually agreed that I should look to pursue my career elsewhere," he said.

"The fact of the matter is that having burst onto the scene a couple of years ago, I am now at a stage in my career where I need first-team football on a regular basis.

"That is something that Everton could not guarantee.

"I accept that and am now looking forward to a challenge of playing for another ambitious club who can give me a platform and a chance to fulfil my potential."

Cadamarteri was fined 2,000 and ordered to pay 4,000 costs for the assault.

He will make a donation to local charities equivalent to the amount of legal aid he received to fight his case and will assist Everton's Football in the Community scheme.

He said: "I accept that as a professional footballer I am in the limelight and therefore in any given public situation I have to be accountable for my actions.

"When all is said and done I am a lad of 21 who has learnt a valuable lesson in life but at some considerable consequence to myself in both a professional and personal way."
