Kenny promises better for final
Stephen Kenny looks on as his side lose to Falkirk
Stephen Kenny was unhappy with his side against Falkirk
Dunfermline manager Stephen Kenny admits he has a lot of work to do to build his relegated side's confidence ahead of the Scottish Cup final.

"It was a bit of a shambles," he said after the 3-0 home defeat by Falkirk. "It was probably our worst performances in months and months and months.

"I had to try a few things as a few can't play at Hampden, but it was better to learn a lesson this week.

"There wasn't a good balance to the team and we have a bit of work to do."

Dunfermline were relegated last weekend after their good recent run of form came to an end at Inverness.

"Our spirits were eroded a bit after last week and you could sense that," said Kenny.

"It was poor by our recent standards and it was a pity to end the season like that.
Most of our players are keen to stay and we'll have a good squad next season

"Nobody came out of the game with any credit.

"Some players who came in were a bit rusty and it was good to get that out of the system."

Dunfermline will be denied the services of on loan Jim O'Brien, who Celtic will not allow to play against them, cup-tied Tam McManus and Stephen Glass, plus the suspended Gary Mason at Hampden.

But Kenny expected his side to be better against Celtic next weekend.

"Jim McIntyre will come back and a few others," he said.

"Adam Hammill will be free of England Under-19 duty and he definitely gives us something.

"It's Dunfermline's second Scottish Cup final in 40 years, so that should be motivation enough.

"We have been able to lift ourselves for cup games and did well against decent sides. We need to do that again.

"We will have to be at our best and need to be tactically astute."

Kenny dismissed suggestions that Dunfermline might lose many of his players after being relegated.

"We might lose one or two, but most of our players are keen to stay and we'll have a good squad," he added.

"I think we'll be as strong as we were at the end of the season."
