Chairman John Yorkston is hoping for a decent Uefa Cup run |
Dunfermline have been paired with FH Hafnafjordur of Iceland in the second qualifying round of the Uefa Cup. The Pars qualified for European competition last season for the first time since the 1969-70 Fairs Cup.
The Icelandic team defeated Welsh club, Haverfordwest, in the previous round of the competition on a 4-1 aggregate.
The Fife club have yet to hear if their opponents are willing to play the tie's second leg on the artificial playing surface at East End Park.
The Pars are looking to switch the venue to McDiarmid Park, the home of St Johnstone in Perth, if Hafnafjordur do not agree.
"We are quite pleased that we are away in the first leg in Iceland," said Pars chairman John Yorkston. "Unfortunately, there was no representative of the club at the draw in Geneva.
"We have spoken to someone at Hafnafjordur on the phone and we are now waiting for them to get back to us.
"It was either going to be Lithuania or Latvia otherwise in the draw, so we are quite happy.
"But we are in it, which is the main thing and we will take it as it comes."
