Levein and Webster show off their November awards

Dundee United duo Craig Levein and Andy Webster are the Clydesdale Bank Premier League manager and player of the month for November.

Levein's side picked up seven points from three league matches last month, including a dramatic 2-1 home victory over leaders Celtic.

Webster has impressed at the heart of United's defence since agreeing a season-long loan from Rangers.

And he scored his third goal of the campaign at Motherwell on Saturday.

Webster's career had stalled since he left Hearts in 2006 because of a succession of injuries but the 27-year-old, capped 22 times for Scotland, has enjoyed a trouble-free run of games with United.

The player was modest about the award.

"For me personally, it makes it easier to play in a good side," he said.

"I think I have done reasonably well, but there's always room for a little bit more."

Should United win their game in hand, albeit against champions Rangers, they would move to within a point of leaders Celtic.

And Levein was delighted at the role played by Webster.

"He has been a good player for us this season, but I hope Andy will accept that there is more to come from him," he said.

"He had hardly played any football and is here to build up his confidence and help the team and he has certainly done that."

Levein, who has lost just one league match this term, is the bookmakers' favourite to become the next manager of Scotland.

The former Hearts and Leicester boss arrived at Tannadice in October 2006 and is contracted to United until 2012.

Levein said the praise for his latest award should be directed towards his players.

"It is a reflection of how well the lads have been playing," he said while deflecting all questions about the national manager's job.
