Wilkie was capped nine times for Scotland before his knee injury
Dundee United captain Lee Wilkie has signed a three-year contract extension to keep him at the club until May 2012.
The defender joined United initially as a trialist from rivals Dundee in 2006 following a lengthy recuperation from a career-threatening knee injury.
United say discussions with other players are continuing and announcements may be made next week.
One player who is expected to commit further to the Tayside club is Irish defender Sean Dillon.
Wilkie has gone on to make more than 80 appearances for the Tannadice club, scoring seven goals.
The 28-year-old is the second player whose contract manager Craig Levein has managed to renegotiate recently after striker Jon Daly signed for a further three years in December.
