Levein's side pulled one back to secure a draw against Hibs
Dundee United manager Craig Levein remained positive following his side's draw with Hibernian in the SPL.
United missed out on the opportunity to move above Motherwell in the table, but Levein was reluctant to concede that Motherwell benefited from the draw.
"If they get the three points against who they were supposed to play then yes," said Levein.
"But if not then we have inched a point closer, but I still thought in the final third we didn't play well."
The United boss also thought his side had created the better chances during the fast-paced encounter at Tannadice, but saw room for improvement.
"I still thought in the final third we didn't play particularly well.
"I was pleased with a lot of our midfield play and defensive play, apart from when we were a little bit kamikaze at the goal.
"Our movement wasn't as good as it should have been in the box.
"We put some great balls in but at the same time we had a lot of set-pieces where we didn't really provide the quality we needed.
"We weren't at our best by any stretch of the imagination but it's a game a year so we probably would have lost.
"The players have certainly got a lot of character and they showed that by getting very quickly back into the match."
