The Champions League holders are coming to Scotland |
Spanish champions Barcelona will play friendlies against Dundee United and Hearts in July. The Champions League holders will be based in St Andrews for a week and visit Tannadice on 26 July before taking on Hearts two days later.
The match in Edinburgh will be staged at Murrayfield, home of Scottish Rugby.
"It will be a very exciting occasion for Hearts supporters and football supporters in Scotland as a whole," said Hearts chairman Roman Romanov.
The Tannadice fixture comes 20 years after United beat Barca on their way to the final of the 1987 Uefa Cup.
"We have quite a connection with Barcelona, having played them four times in European competition and winning each tie," chairman Eddie Thompson told BBC Sport.
United famously beat Barcelona 1-0 and 2-1 in 1987, while the scores were 2-0 and 2-1 when they met in the 1966/67 Inter Cities Fair Cup.
Hearts have never played the Catalan giants and have never beaten a team from Spain in European competition.
Barcelona will stay at the Old Course Hotel at St Andrews and will use the facilities at the neighbouring university for training.
