Dundee United defender Lee Mair will miss the remainder of the season after he tore his medial ligament in training on Monday. A scan revealed damage that is likely to keep him out for three months.
Mair only signed for United in January from Stockport and has made just seven appearances for his new club.
United manager Ian McCall said: "He has what they call a grade three tear which means that although it's serious, it's not career-threatening."
The Tannadice side are already without top scorer Jim McIntyre, captain Derek McInnes and David McCracken for Sunday's Tennent's Scottish Cup meeting with Aberdeen.
