Dundee manager Gordon Chisholm gave an ultimatum to his squad following the 2-2 draw with Morton.
The Dens Park side's chances of winning the First Division are all but over with leaders Inverness now only reachable via goal difference.
And Chisholm has warned his players to shape up or face the axe.
"A lot of players still have a lot to play for; they still have to prove to me that they're good enough to stay here," Chisholm told BBC Scotland.
Morton built up a 2-0 lead at Cappielow, thanks to goals by David Witteveen and Carlo Monti.
The visitors battled back to claim a point through Gary Harkins and Leigh Griffiths.
"Considering what we were playing for, I was really disappointed," added Chisholm.
"The players were told the one thing they would get is a physical game and they didn't handle that.
"I thought we got bullied. Unbelievably, we weren't up for the fight in the first 45 minutes.
"It wasn't until we went 2-0 down that we thought we better start playing.
"To show that lack of urgency and determination is unacceptable. It tells me something.
"Being honest, you can't see anything happening with the league."
