Veteran former Lazio striker Fabio Vignaroli has begun a trial with managerless Dundee.
The 32-year-old Italian is poised to play as a trialist against Morton in Division One on Saturday.
Vignaroli had been training with Kilmarnock, but the Scottish Premier League club are unable to sign players until the January transfer window.
After a fruitless season with Lazio, the striker has most recently been with Greek top-tier outfit Panthrakikos.
Dundee are seeking a new manager after sacking Alex Rae this week following a disappointing start to the Dens Park side's promotion bid.
But assistant manager Davie Farrell is due to take charge of the game at Cappielow on Saturday and will decide whether Vignaroli starts in Greenock.
The striker began his career with Como in Italy's Serie B before heading for Monza.
It was while with Salernitana that he had his most prolific spell, scoring 26 goals in 81 appearances for the Serie B outfit.
That won him a move to Modena, newly promoted to Serie A, scoring six goals in 63 appearances.
Vignaroli moved on the Parma in 2005 but failed to hit the net in 16 appearances.
It was back to Serie B with Bologna then Bari before a surprise move to Parma in 2007.
