Cameron eyes SPL step at Dundee

Cameron believes Dundee can challenge for promotion

New Dundee signing Colin Cameron has set his sights on promotion with the Dens Park club.

"Promotion is the main goal," said the veteran midfielder. "They were neck and neck with Hamilton last season right to the end.

"Hopefully, with acquisitions like big Rab Douglas, myself and the youngsters at the club, it can be the right blend to get us promoted.

"I'm looking forward to this season and feel we have a right good chance."

The 35-year-old former Scotland international, who is under contract to MK Dons until 31 July, is looking forward to working with Dens Park manager and former team-mate Alex Rae.

Cameron also hopes that, despite his advanced years, he still has a couple of seasons left in the game.

"I played alongside Alex Rae at Wolves for about three years, so I know what he was like as a player and I'm sure he's got the same sort of traits as a manager," he said.

"With the offers that I had available to me and the stage I am at in my career, it was the right time for me to move back to Scotland.

"Hopefully there's more than one season left in me. I certainly feel fit enough that I can go on for a number of years yet."
