O'Driscoll will take charge of the Cherries against Crewe on Saturday and will be unveiled by Rovers on Monday.

His assistant at Dean Court, Richard O'Kelly, will become Rovers first-team coach while Mickey Walker resumes his role as Doncaster's assistant boss.

Youth team coach Joe Roach and goalkeeping coach Stuart Murdoch will take temporary charge at Bournemouth.

"Sean and Richard stood out in terms of innovation, quality, and achievement on a limited budget," said Rovers chairman John Ryan.

"They have also developed a team who play the type of passing football which was a prerequisite to qualify for the job at this club."

O'Driscoll said: "We have been preparing for the Crewe game all week in the usual way, so nothing will change. We'll be going out to get the win for the players, the fans and the club, as we always do.

"It is a big wrench physically and emotionally. I had a sleepless night but when I woke up with a clear head I decided it was the right move.

"There will be pressure to succeed at Doncaster but there is pressure everywhere in football.

"We feel there is a wind of change blowing through Bournemouth and this gives any possible investors a clean slate.
