Derby County winger Kris Commons says the Rams want to settle a score against his former team Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup clash on Friday.
Miles Addison's goal was disallowed in injury time to deny Derby three points in their league meeting in November.
Commons told BBC East Midlands Today: "I think the headlines were written for the wrong reasons with the referee making a bit of a blunder.
"The boys will be revved up to try and put things right."
Commons said: "Hopefully we'll play the football we know we can and get through to the next round.
"Referees have a tough enough job as it is and when I see the goal back there was that much commotion in the box, he's obviously seen something he didn't think was right but we should have put the penalty in."
The Mansfield-born midfielder said the spotlight may be off him on Friday with the arrival of new managers in both camps.
"Hopefully all eyes will be off me now with Billy Davies coming back and an ex-Forest player as manager at Derby, so there are more connections than previous years.
"For the local lads it's a game we're looking forward to.
"Like any derby it doesn't matter how you play if the ball's in the back of the net and it's 1-0 the bragging rights are yours until the next game," he said.
