Derby County are losing interest in Sheffield United striker Rob Hulse but are close to signing Tranmere's Steve Davies, BBC Radio Derby understands.

The Rams and the Blades are struggling to agree on a fee for Hulse and may now look elsewhere.

Boss Paul Jewell is eager to replace Robert Earnshaw and Kenny Miller who looks set to join Rangers.

Davies, 20, is out of contract this summer but would command a fee as he is under 24 years of age.

The highly-rated striker was the subject of two bids from League One side Leeds United last season.
