Derby boss Paul Jewell has dismissed proposals for a 39th Premier League game to be played overseas from 2011 as unnecessary "razzmatazz". Speaking to BBC Radio Derby Jewell said: "I just think it's typical of the Premier League.
"I think fans are getting less and less important in their eyes.
"If it's just for money purposes then surely there's enough money swimming around in the game at the moment and it just becomes razzamatazz."
Jewell described the proposal as an attempt to "Americanise" English football, an ironic comment as Derby are now owned by an consortium from the United States.
And the Rams manager is unhappy that the twenty Premier League managers were not consulted over the proposal.
"For me travelling [abroad] to play a game for a league in England doesn't seem right," he added.
