Stephen Pearson and Andy Griffin are both injury doubts for Derby County's away game against Newcastle on Sunday. Midfielder Pearson, who has played all three games since Paul Jewell took over as manager, has been struggling with a thigh injury for the past three weeks.
And defender Griffin limped out of Saturday's Pride Park defeat by Middlesbrough with a calf injury.
"We can ill afford injuries. A blind man can see we need help in January to bring players in," Jewell said.
"If we can bring in three, four of five new faces then sometimes a new face or two just gives everyone a lift and that's what I've been trying to do."
