Howard is on his way to Pride Park |
Derby County have completed the signing of Luton Town striker Steve Howard for a fee of 1m. Howard has agreed a three-year contract at Pride Park after spending more than five years at Kenilworth Road.
The 30-year-old is Billy Davies' first signing since taking over as the Rams manager in June.
The former Hartlepool and Northampton player becomes Derby's most expensive buy since the acquisition of Francois Grenet in November 2001.
Howard revealed that he has reached the highest point in his career following his move to the Rams.
He told the club website: "I believe I have joined Derby at the right time because the club is undoubtedly moving forward - I want to be a part of that.
"This is the peak of my career without a doubt. With more signings on the way there is every reason to think we can really compete in the Championship."
