Teenage defender Lewin Nyatanga has signed a new contract at Derby which will keep him at the club until 2008. The 17-year-old has captained Wales Under-21s, and has made nine first-team appearances for the Rams this season.
"We've secured Lewin's future, which is the maximum we can do under league rules," Derby boss Phil Brown said.
"It's great to see a young man plying his trade in the first team, and it's
good for the rest of the lads to see the chance is there."
Brown added: "He doesn't seem to be fazed by anything. Hopefully he'll be a cornerstone of the back four for a long time to come."
