Derby boss Phil Brown is delighted that Tommy Smith returned to action for the reserves on Tuesday and cannot wait until he is fit for a first team spot. Brown told BBC Radio Derby: "He is a big player for us and has provided between 70 or 80 crosses this season and is a godsend to the strikers.
"Tommy is like an old fashion winger and gives our play width and delivers the ball with both feet.
"He is an integral part of our team and the sooner we get him back the better."
