Darlington boss Mark Cooper impressed by Telford result

Cooper's side have beaten two Blue Square Bet Premier rivals so far

Darlington boss Mark Cooper was impressed with his side's clinical 3-0 away win at AFC Telford United in Saturday's FA Trophy tie.

The Quakers set up a quarter-final home tie with Salisbury City courtesy of goals from Gary Smith, Aman Verma and Nathan Modest.

"Telford have only lost once at home this season," Cooper told BBC Tees.

"So to come here and win 3-0 and be as comfortable as we were is in full credit to the players."

Meanwhile Darlington are also battling to resurrect their promotion hopes, having drifted down to 13th in Blue Square Bet Premier, but are on a six-match unbeaten run at their Arena home.

"We've got an opportunity next Saturday against Eastbourne to carry on our home form," Cooper continued.

"We knew it was going to be difficult at the start of the season because of what had gone on before, we slowly but surely trying to stabilise it and get it right.

"We want to build from a firm footing, and to be fair to him the chairman can see that with the squad we're building, the future looks bright."
