Darlington have completed the signing of Marc Bridge-Wilkinson on a free transfer following his release by Carlisle United on Monday.
The midfielder has penned an 18-month contract with the Quakers.
The 31-year-old had been on loan at The Arena since October 2010 on an initial one-month deal, which was extended until January.
During this period he made 11 appearances for the Blue Square Bet Premier side, scoring four goals.
Quakers manager Mark Cooper told the club website: "It goes without saying we're delighted to secure Mark on a long-term deal.
"We've made no secret of our desire to sign him after an impressive loan period with us and the chairman and I have really pushed the boat out to get him."
Bridge-Wilkinson began his career at Derby County where he made one appearance, coming on as a substitute in a Premier League match against Liverpool.
He went on to play for Port Vale, Stockport County and Bradford City, before returning to Brunton Park in 2007.
